August 2025 Dare occupancy collections up slightly, bigger increase in meals revenue

The latest Dare County occupancy and meals collections for August 2025 show a modest increase in occupancy revenue compared with August 2024 and a larger jump in meals revenue.

The data, presented by Outer Banks Visitors Bureau Executive Director Lee Nettles, showed the August occupancy revenue totaled $162 million. That is up 2.65% from the same month a year ago, with comparative year-to-date revenue almost flat, showing a 1.5% increase in 2025.

On the meals side, it’s a somewhat different picture. Meals collections in August 2025, at $62 million, were up 8.3% over August 2024. Year-to-date, meals numbers have increased by 5.5% over 2024.
