BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - Two of the nation's most iconic warbirds still flying today, just touched down in Bay County.

The B-29 Super-Fortress, known as "Doc," alongside the legendary P-51 Mustang Gunfighter, will be on display at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport this weekend.

Both planes are rare survivors of World War Two; B-29 DOC being one of only two B-29s still airworthy today. The pilots say it's an honor to be flying them, remembering the brave men and women who built, maintained and flew them during the war.

"We want to educate, and we want to connect with the next generation. What those gentlemen did 80 years ago is just amazing and if no one's out there telling their story, it'll be forgotten," B-29 DOC Flight Commander Mark Novak said.
