A young mum who died after an "out of guidance" home birth believed she was "low risk" after being told her blood loss in a previous birth was minimal, an inquest has heard.

Jennifer Cahill, 34, died in hospital on June 3, 2024, after giving birth at her family home in Prestwich which she shared with her husband, Robert Cahill, and their first child. Their second child, baby Agnes, also died in hospital four days later .

The pair were rushed to hospital separately following a host of complications. Agnes was born not breathing, covered in meconium and with the umbilical cord around her neck, before Mrs Cahill suffered a postpartum haemorrhage, with experts estimating up to two litres of blood lost.
