URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) -- The Urbana City Council narrowly passed a resolution accepting a federal grant for the fire department. But, officials said it may come with some strings attached.
The council discussed the Assistance to the Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) funding from FEMA during Monday night's meeting. In September, Urbana was awarded more than $67,800 in federal funding, which would go toward paying for eight portable radios for the fire department. The city would have to pitch in nearly $6,800, according to an award letter sent from the Department of Homeland Security.
