LUFKIN, Texas — An Lufkin man is in Angelina County jail after a high-speed chase through East Texas Monday night.
According to Texas DPS, troopers arrested Devin Cook, 22 following the chase. They said a trooper in Angelina County conducted a traffic stop at 9:41 p.m. on a stolen 2015 Lexus IS2 car driven by Cook, when he fled police and traveled north Cherokee County. Troopers said he attempted to strike officers that were deploying spikes, and the pursuing trooper utilized his vehicle as a tool to stop Cook.
Cook was not injured and was taken into custody shortly after he was apprehended at Hwy. 69 N. near Jacksonville. Law enforcement indicated to CBS19 Monday the driver reached speeds of over 130 miles per hour.
