BALTIMORE —
Some 42 million Americans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to buy food are concerned about the continuing federal government shutdown .
Queen Stokes is one of them. She worries about the "what ifs" and what will happen if the shutdown continues and SNAP runs out of money — potentially leaving her without November's SNAP benefits.
"I am a single person on disability right now," Stokes told WBAL-TV 11 News. "It's going to be a struggle. It is. It's going to be a real struggle because the little bit I do get helps me out, but it doesn't help me all month. So, if they take it away, I won't have anything."
