GREENSBORO, N.C. — For over 70 years, the Community Theatre of Greensboro has taken audiences along the yellow brick road. But as its 30th annual production of The Wizard of Oz approaches, the beloved local arts organization is facing a challenge that can’t be solved by simply clicking its heels together three times.
Each November, downtown Greensboro transforms into Oz — complete with ruby slippers, flying monkeys, and a cast of familiar faces. The Wizard of Oz isn’t just another musical for CTG; it’s the heartbeat of their season and one of the longest-running annual community productions of the show in the country.
