As a councillor, Andrew Knack opposed the three-way deal between the city, the province and the Oilers Entertainment Group to build a $250-million fan park next to Rogers Place, a deal that also included funds for the demolition of the old arena on the Exhibition Lands, and the construction of new housing downtown.
During the election campaign, he said the city could no longer wait for the feds and the province to come up with plans to address homelessness, and that the municipality would need to come up with solutions on its own.
