PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The streets of downtown Pine Bluff turned purple Saturday afternoon as families, survivors, and police officers joined together for the city’s annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk.

The walk was held from noon to 2 p.m. and began on the front steps of the Pine Bluff Civic Center at 200 E. 8th Avenue. A police escort led dozens of participants through downtown, followed by speeches calling for unity and support for victims of abuse.

Community Members say the goal of the event is to remind victims they’re not alone and to encourage more people to reach out for help.

“We’re here to let them know that we have their backs, we’re here to help them and encourage them in any way possible,” said Christopher Warrior, a Pine Bluff resident who joined the walk.
