Jeromy Farkas edges toward the mayor’s office with a clean slate, hotly pursued by Sonya Sharp, only 585 votes behind.
That’s an incredibly small margin over 180,000 votes cast for the two of them — certainly narrow enough for Sharp to request a recount.
At 3:50 Tuesday afternoon, she did exactly that .
“Given the margin of victory for Mr. Farkas is only 585 votes or 0.16%, I believe it is appropriate to request the Chief Returning Officer undertake a recount of the ballots to ensure the accuracy of the election outcome,” Sharp said in a statement.
She said that given the long lines and time pressures, unintended mistakes could be made.
By midday, however, Farkas was already “onboarding” at city hall. That seems to be the new word for arranging your paycheque.
