GRESHAM Ore. (KPTV) - A 30-year-old Gresham woman may never walk again after she was shot while trying to help a stranger being attacked outside a bar early Sunday morning.

Myranda Rice, a mother of two girls, remains hospitalized after being shot in the stomach while attempting to break up a fight outside Division Sports Pub around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The bullet went through her stomach and into her spine, leaving her paralyzed.

“She lost a kidney, so she’s feeling a lot of that. And they just basically confirmed that she’s a paraplegic,” said Jessica Hawash, Rice’s sister.

Rice told her sister she was leaving the bar with her boyfriend when she saw three people attacking one man. She tried to help, but before she knew, a gun was pulled, and she had been shot.
