WASHINGTON D.C. (KPTV) - U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (D-Oregon) took the Senate floor to protest President Donald Trump on Tuesday afternoon.

In a post on ‘X’ just before 3:30 p.m., Merkley said he would be holding the Senate floor in protest of “Trump’s grave threats to democracy.”

During the speech, Merkley has addressed topics including healthcare and the current government shutdown.

It’s unclear how long Merkley intends to speak on the Senate floor.
