CASS COUNTY, Mich. (WNDU) - It’s not often that dispatchers get to meet the people they’ve helped save, but that’s exactly what happened on Tuesday at the Edwardsburg fire station.
With the help of a miracle and the quick response of the dispatch team in Edwardsburg, Jeff Freed was rescued from a fiery car crash back in June . And for the first time, Freed got to put a name to the faces he’s heard about for months.
“It means a lot to physically shake hands, hug, shed a tear,” Freed said. “Feels good. I’m glad I was able to do that.”
It all started on June 23, 2025, when Freed got into a serious car wreck. That’s when the iPhone Crash Detection sent an alert to local dispatch.
Through a system called RapidSOS dispatch, they were able to see Freed’s exact location and sent fire, police
