MINOT, ND (KXNET) — When you see an American flag waving in the distance, you might think of the stories told in old history classes — or maybe patriotic holidays like the 4th of July or Memorial Day.
But for Vietnam veteran Ron Garcia, the flag is more than just a colorful cloth waving in the wind. To him, it represents the values that have not only defined our country, but also his entire life.
"I see the respect that should be given to that as a symbol of our freedom, as a symbol of our way of life, and for it to mean something, it must always be in good repair," Garcia said. "I know Bunker Hill, the flag was used during the war, and it was tattered, and it was torn, but the symbol was still there."
