DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Durham Police have arrested a second person in a human trafficking and prostitution case involving a disabled teenage girl.
Now, an 86-year-old man is also in jail being held on a $1 million bond.
Cornelius Hines, in court Tuesday morning for his first appearance, asked the judge if he could tell his side of the story about the allegations against him.
Judge Kevin Jones said no.
According to court records, Hines is charged with several felony counts of human trafficking a child, second degree forced sex with a child; and misdemeanor sexual battery of a child.
Durham Police investigators say Thursday, Hines “solicited and obtained a 17-year-old mentally handicapped female for the purposes of sexual servitude … and engaged in a sexual act by force.”
