A newly released beach water report by the NSW Department of Environment has good news for those who like to dip their toes in the Northern Beaches.

With summer just around the corner and heat already beginning, Sydney locals are picking their favourite beaches to cool off after seeing the latest report findings.

The annual report showed 76 per cent of NSW swimming sites were rated good or very good, marking them as safe for swimmers.

A total of 249 sites across the state were tested, with results ranging from very good to very poor.

Sydney proudly recorded 20 beaches with a “very good” rating for microbial water quality, though not all beaches made the cut.
