Markeaton Park is Derby’s number one hotspot for parking fines with more than 2,000 penalty charge notices issued to motorists so far this year. But Derby City Council says fining drivers “does not deter visitors” from coming again and visitor numbers are up.

A Freedom of Information request to the city council has revealed the locations across the city where most fines have been issued for parking offences . According to the new data, Markeaton Park’s main car park off the busy Markeaton Island is top of the list.

Other places high on the list include Osmaston Road near The Spot , London Road, the Morledge, Babington Lane area, and the Pride Park park-and-ride service at Derby Arena.
