GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Green Bay police officer and his K9 were honored Tuesday night, at the city’s common council meeting.
Officer Scott Salzmann and K9 Pyro were unable to attend a ceremony in Madison earlier this month which recognized the pair as the 90th Assembly District’s “First Responder of the Year.”
That all changed Tuesday night, when they were presented a framed citation in recognition of their service and Pyro’s recent retirement.
“Also wanting to give recognition to not only K9 Pyro, but all of our K9s in the city of Green Bay. We’re a unit collectively, we all work together, we all train together, and there’s five other people up here that could be getting this award that are deserving as well, so,” said Officer Scott Salzmann.
