Arrest made after vehicle crashes into gate outside White House

(NewsNation) —The Secret Service arrested a person who crashed their vehicle into a security gate outside the White House on Tuesday night.

The individual, who was not named or publicly identified in any capacity, drove into the Secret Service vehicle gate located at 17th and E Street at approximately 10:37 p.m.

"The vehicle was assessed by Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department and deemed safe. Additional information will be provided upon conclusion of the investigation," a statement read.

At this time, no information has been made available regarding the person's motive, if any.
