TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Tucson City Council has voted unanimously to eliminate Sun Tran Bus Route 22, with the change set to take effect on Feb. 15, 2026.

This decision follows a proposal to discontinue Route 22, which serves an average of 5,000 passengers monthly, according to Sun Tran's website. The route, known as El Rio/West Speedway, begins at the Ronstadt Transit Center and passes through key locations like the El Rio Neighborhood Center and Boys & Girls Club.

Passengers relying on this route will need to make alternative transportation plans ahead of the February change.
