Tamil Nadu continues to reel under incessant rainfall, prompting authorities to shut schools and issue flood warnings across multiple districts. The IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has issued red and orange alerts while warning of extremely heavy rainfall along the coastal belt on Wednesday, Oct 22.
All schools will remain closed on Oct 22 due to continuous heavy rainfall, Chennai District Collector Rashmi Siddarth Jagade announced.
Similar directive have been issued in Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Ranipet, where district collectors have declared holidays for both schools and colleges, as per News18.
These precautionary closures follow forecasts of intense downpours likely to persist throughout the week.
