BBC Breakfast hosts Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson delivered a "worrying" announcement in the run-up to Christmas .

During Wednesday's show (October 22), the pair disclosed reports of potential shortages during the holiday period .

"We're in late October, is it too early to talk about Christmas?" Ben opened, quickly apologising as Sally declared: "Never."

He went on: "A warning that the weather has been so good this year, really nice, early, warm dry Spring, dry Summer, not great for your Christmas shopping. It says beer might be in shortage, also things like potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, all the things you might want.

"Because grains and cereals really struggle because of the weather, so they're worried that obviously if there's fewer of them, prices go up, so
