Your first meal of the day does more than fill you up. A growing body of research suggests that eating a healthy breakfast could play a role in lowering your risk of colon cancer. Skipping breakfast is increasingly common, especially among young adults, but scientists now believe that habit may have deeper health consequences than we think. A peer-reviewed study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology analysed data from over 475,000 adults in the UK and found that people who consumed more dietary fibre from breakfast cereals and bread had a 14% lower risk of developing colorectal cancer compared with those who ate the least fibre.
