Two weeks after Penfield parents and educators were "silenced" at a school board meeting , district officials gave them a chance to speak.
Some applauded the district's efforts to keep their kids safe after an investigation into a school threat last month. Others said they were disappointed it took the district that long to organize a forum like this ― and noted it came only after media attention and uproar about the district's commitment to security and transparency. Several parents called on the district to hire armed school resource officers who can build rapport with students and respond immediately to an active threat.
