In a last-ditch effort to resolve internal discord within the Mahagathbandhan ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reached Patna today.

Upon arrival, he held discussions with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, aiming to defuse tensions in the alliance, which comprises the RJD, Congress, and other partners and is facing infighting on 12 seats just a day before the deadline for withdrawal of nominations.

On Tuesday, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal spoke with Tejashwi Yadav, while senior leader Krishna Allavaru was also sent to Patna, as the alliance scrambled to prevent "friendly fights".

Leaders expressed confidence that the disputes will be resolved, with a joint press conference planned on Wednesday to underline unity.
