MANDAN, N.D. (KXNET) — Changes will soon be coming to one of our area libraries thanks to some new grant funding.

In a first-of-its-kind attraction for North Dakota, The Morton Mandan Public Library (MMPL) has been awarded a $500,000 Destination Development Grant from the North Dakota Department of Commerce, Tourism & Marketing Division.

The goal of the project is to launch the Tourism Makerspace Hub.

The Hub is set to be located in an unused portion of the upper floor, and will transform it into a hands-on tourism destination where visitors can craft, cook, and connect with North Dakota's culture. The project will feature artisan-led workshops, digital storytelling labs, and a professional demonstration kitchen highlighting regional foods and traditions.
