The canopy overhead — a blend of oranges, yellows, browns and greens — cast a shadow over the walking path deep inside Veterans Park, despite the mid-day sunshine.

The park was mostly quiet. The morning dog-walkers, joggers and middle-schoolers riding their bikes to class were gone. And it would be a few hours before they returned to the 230-acre refuge planted squarely in the middle of Barrington.

Early planning is underway to upgrade the main trail inside Veterans Park. At the Oct. 6 Barrington Town Council meeting, Francisco Lovera and Arnold Robinson shared a brief presentation about the “Veterans Park Connector Path Project.” Lovera, the chairman of the Barrington Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and Robinson, a resident who voluntarily drafted a six-page
