An “armed and dangerous” man is on the run after a woman was shot dead in a Brampton plaza parking lot in the middle of the afternoon Tuesday, leading hours later to an Amber Alert for an abducted one-year-old girl in what police are calling a case of intimate partner violence.

The girl, who is the daughter of the suspect, had been found safe and was believed to have been left with family members, Peel police said in a news release at around 9 p.m.

The wanted man was last seen in Niagara-Fort Erie area and residents of Crystal Beach were told to lock themselves indoors with the suspect outstanding.

Just before 9:30 p.m., the shelter in place was lifted by Niagara Regional Police who said in a post on X the “subject is believed to have left the area.”
