JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Madisyn Beals is a domestic violence survivor. Seeing headlines of a homicide with the ex-boyfriend named as a suspect, she can’t help but think.
“I believe if I had stayed in that relationship any longer, like that could have been me, like he would have taken my life for sure,” said Beals. “And I’m just grateful that I found the strength and the confidence to get out of that relationship.”
She’s been out of her abusive relationship for two and a half years now. We asked what she wishes others knew.
“I felt like I was proving my resilience to him, like, okay, your words aren’t hurting me,” noted Beals. “And I’m showing how strong I was to him. But really, he’s trying to hurt me. So, I’m not getting a cookie or anything for staying. And so that’s a big thing that
