TOLEDO, Ohio — Students at Whitmer Senior High School are getting a hands-on lesson in real-world money management, thanks to a new partnership with the University of Toledo.
On Tuesday, the school hosted its first financial literacy simulation, bringing the college’s popular budgeting program directly to high school students for the first time.
The event aims to teach students how to navigate adult financial decisions from budgeting and housing to child care and transportation.
“We’re co-partnering with the University of Toledo, and they’re bringing the game to us,” said Lucas Hoel, a social studies and financial literacy teacher at the school. “They usually host this on campus, but with so many students, they decided to bring it here instead.
