FINDLAY, Ohio — A person is dead after being shot "several times" by officers Wednesday afternoon in Findlay.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1600 block of Cherry Lane in Findlay around 1:47 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the Findlay Police Department. At the scene, dispatch was unsuccessful in attempting to contact the caller.

Officers went to the door and it was open by what police described as a "male suspect." The suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers, Findlay police said. Officers fired "several rounds" at the suspect in response and the suspect was hit several times.

The house was cleared and no one else was located inside. Officers rendered aid to the suspect, who was taken to taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
