Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) -- Halloween is next week; however, celebrations will be kicking off around Rapid City starting this Friday.

During the holiday festivities, law enforcement is urging people to be safe and not to drink and drive.

Dating back to 2019, over 200 people have been killed in alcohol-related crashes on the night of Halloween across the nation.

"You want to make sure that you have a designated driver beforehand. A lot of people want to go out and enjoy Halloween and enjoy it with friends and go out and drink of course, but just make sure you have that designated driver or be prepared to call an Uber or call rideshare," PCSO Deputy Jordan Decker said
