SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- We have had some cold mornings in KELOLAND recently.

Meteorologist Jaelyn Borresen explains who has made it into the record books for the latest first freeze.

It has been a more pleasant second half to our week so far in KELOLAND with warmer temperatures during the day, but we can not say the same for the night. Wednesday and Thursday morning had us reaching for our winter jackets as it brought widespread freezing lows.

For some of us, hitting 32 degrees for the first time this season came later rather than sooner. Areas like Brookings and Chamberlain will have October 22nd go into their record books for the latest first freeze.

It is pretty impressive as Chamberlain broke their record by one day on October 21st, 2021 and Brookings broke their record from 19
