GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Local plumbers gathered outside a West Michigan business on Wednesday to picket after their management has reportedly blocked a union from forming.

Workers at Moore Mechanical in Grand Rapids say they voted to form a union, but company leaders have been trying to keep that from happening.

Johnny Ortiz, organizer for Local Union 174, and Ryan Bennett, business manager and treasurer for Local Union 174, were at the demonstration.

"We're here to show support to those Moore workers. They're the heroes of this situation," Bennett said. "They realized they were being taken advantage of by their employer, and they reached out, and they decided they wanted to do something about it."
