FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new state park was christened in Middle Tennessee Tuesday.

Head of the Crow State Park spans 4,258 acres in Franklin County, and is part of the former South Cumberland State Park. Tennessee divided South Cumberland's 30,000 acres into three parks to "ensure each area of the park receives the dedicated management, resources, and conservation it deserves."

Savage Gulf was established as a new park in 2022 before Fiery Gizzard, which adopted the name of its nationally recognized trail in 2025. • Head of the Crow State Park (Courtesy: Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation) • Head of the Crow State Park (Courtesy: Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation)
