NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio -- The North Olmsted police department currently includes a fleet of roughly 15 vehicles.

North Olmsted Police Chief Bob Wagner said it’s imperative that his department continues to cycle in new vehicles to replace high-mileage cruisers.

That’s why he annually budgets for new purchases, including adding two Ford Police Interceptors through the state purchase program cost of $91,260.

“We’re buying two for Montrose Ford with each one being roughly $45,000,” he said.

“All of the vehicles in our patrol fleet are the Ford Interceptor, which is the police version of the civilian Ford Explorer.”

Previously, the price to outfit each cruiser was roughly $10,000.

The police chief said that cost has increased to nearly $15,000 for each cruiser.
