OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — Construction on the Glover Cary Bridge in Owensboro, originally set to finish in early October, has been delayed until January 16.
Matt Hughes of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet explained the changes to the timeline. "The project first came up last summer and we were looking at a six-month project," Hughes said. "But that was unacceptable at that time so we shortened the project, changed a few things, got it down to 90 days. That was our expectation going into this project back in July was the bridge would be ready to go by October 1."
Hughes said the new completion date is due to unforeseen adjustments. "As you know now, we are looking at probably January 16 before it reopens," Hughes said.
