BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin says the state is accelerating construction that will improve a dangerous section of Interstate 81 in Botetourt County.
The goal of the project is to straighten the S-curves near Arcadia.
Youngkin stopped near exit 168 Tuesday morning, as he travelled to a workforce housing investment project announcement in Bristol and an economic development announcement in Duffield.
He told WDBJ7 the Commonwealth Transportation Board recently committed an additional $270 million to speed up the work in Botetourt.
“We already have 65 major projects that are either completed or underway on I-81,” Youngkin said, “but this particular project is now being accelerated in order to make I-81 safer, particularly here, but also to relieve the traffic
