David Orazietti is retiring as president of Sault College.
The former Sault Ste. Marie MPP has been on leave from the post-secondary institution since July. The college calls his departure “a personal decision.”

Sherri Smith, vice-president, academic, innovation and student services, has acted as interim president during Orazietti’s absence. She will keep serving in that role “until further notice,” said director of corporate communications and stakeholder relations Stephanie Pagnucco in an email to The Sault Star.
Orazietti joined Sault College as dean of aviation, trades and technology, natural environment and business in 2017 after serving the city at Queen’s Park for 13 years. He succeeded Ron Common as president in 2023.
