CLE ELUM, Wash — A semi-truck with an oversized load struck an overpass on Tuesday night, blocking traffic on Interstate 90 near Cle Elum, according to the Washington State Patrol. The road will remain closed on Wednesday morning while the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) plans repairs.
The westbound lanes of I-90 are closed at Bullfrog Road,. A photo from the scene shows debris from the damaged overpass covering the two westbound lanes.
Drivers are being detoured off of I-90 at exit 80, then allowed to re-enter the interstate.
Kittitas County Public Works has established a detour for Bullfrog Road so local drivers can access I-90 from Cle Elum.
WSDOT said crews are still assessing damage to the overpass and planning what the next steps will be.
