COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) is warning SNAP recipients that there may be no benefits paid out in November due to the ongoing government shutdown.

The agency issued a statement Wednesday saying that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has instructed SCDSS to hold November 2025 SNAP issuance files until further notice. State agencies across the nation are issuing similar notices to people about the possible interruption.

SCDSS says over 260,000 households in the state rely on the program to help supplement their family's monthly food benefits.
