MYRTLE BEACH — The woman accused of starting a wildfire that burned more than 2,000 acres in Carolina Forest will see her charges dismissed as part of an agreement with state authorities, her attorneys announced Oct. 22.

On the day Alexandra Bialousow's trial was scheduled to begin, the S.C. Forestry Commission offered to drop the two misdemeanor charges if she would participate in a diversion program, her attorney Jonny McCoy said.

The proposed agreement will not require her to plead guilty and will likely involve community service or a class, he said.

"What happened here was wrong," McCoy said. "Sometimes accidents happen and it's nobody's fault."

A spokesman for the Forestry Commission could not immediately be reached for comment.
