LUBBOCK, Texas-- A Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a Wednesday morning collision with a bicycle at the intersection of 34th Street and I-27.

According to a press release, around 10:00 a.m., a deputy was stopped at a red light on the southbound Interstate 27 Access Road. When the light turned green, the deputy accelerated in his unmarked vehicle. However, as he did so, a bicyclist crossed in front of him, prompting the deputy to apply the brakes immediately. Despite his attempt to stop, the front bumper of the vehicle struck the bike, causing it to fall over.

Emergency Medical Services were requested, but the bicyclist refused treatment when offered and the bike was not damaged.
