ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld charges against a man accused of hitting and killing someone while drunkenly speeding away from police, including their associated life sentence.

In 2023, Victor Smith was found guilty of felony murder, vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and more in Gwinnett County. He appealed the case, claiming prosecutors prejudiced the case by telling the jury his license had been suspended for about 18 years when the incident happened.

But the court disagreed. The judges unanimously upheld Smith’s convictions and sentence.
