TOLEDO, Ohio —
A love of candy has kept Boyd's Retro Candy store open for almost 25 years.
"It has just been a love to bring kids into the store and share the candies that I grew up with," owner Pamela Lloyd-Camp said.
But that passion has come with a price.
Inflation isn't just impacting shoppers at the store, but it's also hitting local small businesses. These businesses have had to make adjustments to keep things going.
"We're weathering it," Lloyd-Camp said. "We have cut our staff. Instead of having two employees, we have one and a quarter."
Lloyd-Camp said she's also keeping less inventory and has cut her list of suppliers by a third. She said customers are spending less and focusing more on necessities, and that's had a big impact.
