A woman was struck and killed Tuesday night while trying to cross a busy Maryland roadway, officials confirmed.
Officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded shortly before 7 p.m. on Oct. 21, where there was a reported crash involving a pedestrian on Telegraph Road in Severn.
According to the department, a woman was crossing the road from the median near Denison Drive when a 2022 Ford Bronco hit her in the eastbound lanes.
The 45-year-old Glen Burnie man behind the wheel told officers he didn’t see the pedestrian until she was directly in front of his SUV.
The Bronco struck her before coming to a stop.
Firefighters pronounced the woman dead at the scene, authorities said. Her identity has not yet been confirmed, and investigators are still working to identify her.
The department’s Traffic Safety Crash Reconstruction Team responded and is handling the investigation.
