A 59-year-old man suffered critical but non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in Niagara Falls Wednesday afternoon.

At around 1:30 p.m. Niagara Regional Police officers responded to the area of Niagara Square Drive and McLeod Road where they located a man with a stab wound. He was taken to an out-of-region hospital. Police said the victim is believed to have critical but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a female suspect and the victim had engaged in a verbal argument culminating in the suspect stabbing the man in the back. Police said the suspect fled the scene in a silver sedan southbound on Niagara Square Drive.

Detectives are asking anyone in the area at the time or has video footage to call the police at 905-688-4111 , option 3, extension 1009730.
