LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Mahmoud Amin Ya’qub Al-Muhtadi, who is accused of helping a terrorist attack in Israel in 2023, has pleaded not guilty.
Al-Muhtadi was arraigned today before Magistrate Judge Carol Whitehurst in federal district court in Lafayette on charges of providing support to a foreign terrorist organization and visa fraud, with the help of an interpreter.
Al-Muhtadi is accused of being part of the military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which carried out one of a series of terrorist attacks on Israel that killed over 1,200 people.
He is also alleged to have falsified the application for a visa to enter the United States. In the application, he allegedly denied serving in any paramilitary organization or having ever engaged in terrorist activ
