Fatal boating incident reported at Oregon Inlet Saturday

On the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 18, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission released this report about a fatal boating incident at Oregon Inlet.
Francis Hennigan Jr., 50 of Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, and Taylor Flannery, 29 of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, were transporting a 50-foot sportfishing vessel from Cape May, NJ to Florida and needed to stop in Beaufort, NC for repairs to a damaged prop. While navigating Oregon Inlet, the vessel capsized. The vessel was under power from three of the four engines at the time of the incident.
As a result of the vessel capsizing, both occupants were thrown into the water without life jackets. Flannery was recovered by the U.S. Coast Guard and transported to O
