WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — A Fayetteville man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and disposing of her body in 2022 has now elected to represent himself in his upcoming murder trial in which he faces the death penalty.

Kacey Kawika Jennings, 32, is charged with capital murder, abuse of a corpse, evidence tampering, and theft of property. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

5NEWS was in the courtroom on Oct. 22, 2025, when Jennings requested to represent himself.

The judge overseeing the case, Joanna Taylor, reminded Jennings of the possibility of death or life in prison if found guilty and even called the decision to represent himself "unwise."

Jennings said he had learned things from access to a law library, and he believed he has more training than his own lawyers.
